Drumline becomes a Reality with thanks to Supporters...
15 years ago the Band bought a brand new drumline. Over the years these drums have enabled the band to perform at many different occasions such as the 150th Anniversary of Ogden Water, the Boys' Brigade 125th Anniversary Tattoo along with a number of local events such as the Halifax Charity Gala.
It was decided two years ago that the drumline deserved a new set of drums after the current set had seen almost constant use for over ten years at the time.
The band have done really well to maintain the drums as most bands end up having to replace their drums after just a few years. This comes down to the dedication and hard work of the Instructors who have worked hard fixing the drums along with the respect that has been given by the young people have used them.
The band has received a great amount of support and is almost in the position where the new drums can be purchased. The Band needs just under £2000 before this can happen.

Halifax BBGB Band goes that ‘Extra Mile’.
Members of the Halifax BBGB Band went that ‘Extra mile’ on Sunday by marching the Sport Relief Mile at Lister Park in Bradford. The band had took part in the event 2 years ago and when asked if the Band would like to participate in the 2012 event Band Master Allan Hainsworth was more than happy to register the Band.
The Band is made up from a mixture of Young and Old members from the Halifax Boys’ Brigade and Halifax Girls Brigade. The Band is one of the countries oldest Youth Marching Bands and has entertained thousands of spectators over the years at a wide variety of events both local and further afield.
Thanks to a great deal of support from Friends of the band and the hard work of some of the members in the few weeks leading up to the Event the band has managed to raise just over £200 for Sport Relief which is an Amazing effort.
Drum Instructor Robert Batty said that it was a really some thing different on Sunday. Most times when we perform at Events we are being paid to do so which then gives the Band the money it needs to take part in the various Competitions throughout the year. It is rare that we are able to do something for other people for a change and Sunday was one of these rare occasions and it was great.
Band member James Smith said that a lot of people from his School were doing Sport Relief but when he told his mates that he was Marching Round while playing an instrument for the full mile they couldn’t believe him!
Halifax BBGB Band believe that they are the only Band in the country to have Marched a Lap of the Sport Relief Mile which is something that the members of the Band will be able to think of in years to come as a really big achievement.
